September 5 Blog

 Learning Intentions:

  • I can contribute to a community.
  • I can make connections with other peers in my classroom.
  • I can listen to learn more about others.
  • I can share my experiences with others.
  • I can work with a team.
  • I can respect myself, others and my space.

The students have had multiple opportunities and experiences to get to know each other in our classroom community. Some examples include: WIN time, games, conversations, Circle Talks, and our All About Me bags. We will continue to spend time getting to know each other and making meaningful
connections as time goes on!

Learning Intentions:
  • I can follow classroom rules and expectations.
  • I can be proactive.
  • I can listen to stories and videos and make connections.
  • I can reflect on my learning and share information through pictures, words or sentences.
  • I can control myself, including my words and my actions.

This week, the Grade 1s and 2s started their exploration on “The 7 Habits of Happy Kids.” Through discussions, videos, games, stories and independent work, the student focused on Habit #1 Be Proactive – You’re In Charge! The students will continue to explore the rest of the habits throughout the next few weeks. We will be using the 7 Habits to help set the tone for our classroom rules and expectations. Take a look at some of their independent work using pictures, words and sentences!
Supporting Your Student at Home
Please work on the following tasks with your child. This will help support their growth!
Math
  • Grade 1: Counting to 100
  • Grade 2: Counting within 1000
Spelling
On Fridays, your child will bring home a weekly spelling list for you to practice at home with them. They will have a spelling test on the words the following Friday. Please practice these words with your child at home. This will help develop their reading and writing skills.
